Economics is “the study of how societies use scarce resources to produce valuable commodities and distribute them among different people.” Economics research, both theoretical and empirical, can generate important insights into individual and aggregate behavior and relationships, and help in society’s efforts to use scarce resources in a more efficient manner.
The faculty members of the Department of Economics commit to conduct quality research in the areas of applied microeconomic theory, macroeconomics, applied economics, development economics, labour economics and the Chinese economy. During the past few years, their research outputs have appeared in prestigious academic journals such as American Economic Review, Econometrica, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Economic Journal, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Public Economics, International Economic Review, Operations Research, etc.
